Please note that onboard vessels in the Galápagos, only cash is accepted as credit card machines are not available, and ATM machines on the islands are extremely limited and unreliable. It is important to withdraw enough cash for the duration of your time in the islands, considering personal spending habits for drinks, shopping, and tipping. USD banknotes in denominations smaller than $100 are recommended.

  Transportation includes planes for internal flights, a motorized yacht (Yolita) for cruising between islands, vans, pangas (small boats for shore excursions), and private buses.

  Optional activities include a Quito City Tour & Equator Line, Teleférico in Quito (approx. USD 9 per person), and a full-day Cotopaxi Volcano tour.

• What are the specific safety considerations for this trip?

  In Quito, be aware of pickpockets, especially in the Old Town; use your hotel's safety deposit box for valuables. On the Galápagos, expect 'wet' or 'dry' landings from zodiacs/pangas, which require good mobility to navigate uneven terrain and step over the side of the boat. The yacht does not have an elevator. Snorkeling activities may occur in open water, requiring use of small ladders from pangas. Water-based activities are always at your own risk.
